The French media today highlights the tough start that Adil Aouchiche is having at Sunderland.
Signed by the Black Cats in a free transfer from FC Lorient last summer, the midfielder has been struggling to get a place in the team since the start of the year.
That’s noticed by French outlet But!, who points out that Aouchiche’s complicated situation has been dragging for a while now.
It’s recalled that he had already been struggling to play at Lorient, and that’s why he accepted the move to Sunderland, expecting he’d ‘bounce back’ in England.
Aouchiche even had many chances to prove himself between his arrival to December, but everything changed since then.
He has only made four appearances in 2024, taking part in just three of Sunderland’s last eleven matches.
But! point out he’s now living an ‘ordeal’ at the Championship side, pointing out his ‘abysmal’ stat line of one goal and one assist to date.
The midfielder may be living this ‘very complicated’ situation, but the fact is that he signed a five-year deal with Sunderland.
That means there’s a long time to go until the end of his contract in 2028, and we’ll see how all parties deal with the issue.
