Despite Hector Bellerin’s form taking a nose dive and Sergio Roberto becoming a Barcelona hero, the Spanish club are still keen to sign Arsenal’s right back.
Roberto often plays better than expected in the position, but Barcelona were looking for a new right back even before Aleix Vidal’s bad injury. It’s a position the club just can’t get right since they, perhaps inexplicably, thought they could do without Dani Alves.
Bellerin is the number one choice, but Marca believe Barcelona are having to look elsewhere, because Arsenal would only sell for a ‘golden price’ of €40m or above.
Barcelona’s alternative options are Djibril Sidibe and Joao Canceloa. If the Catalan club believe they can get get Sidibe from Monaco for much less than they’d have to pay Arsenal for Bellerin then it sounds like a wise road to go down.
The uncertainty over Arsene Wenger’s future, and the general malaise around Arsenal, may have harmed Bellerin’s form this season, and he’ll be hoping for better in the next campaign.
