Last week, we covered claims from the Catalan press that Barcelona sporting director Deco has made contact to sign Everton’s Amadou Onana.
Wednesday’s Sport claims the La Liga side have two transfer plans for the summer. The first is to sign players who can take responsibility away from the youngsters in the squad.
The second is to ‘add muscle’ in both the defence and midfield, where the Everton star would fit in.
“The team didn’t show, in many games, a physical and athletic capacity with which it could overcome its opponents,” Deco recently told Luz.
Taking this quote into account, the report states it’s ‘not surprising’ that the director has identified the 22-year-old as No.1 target for midfield. The Belgium international stands out for his height [1.92m] and his physicality.
Sean Dyche’s side, who were handed a 10-point deduction earlier in the season, are currently 18th in the table.
It’s claimed Everton’s relegation ‘would facilitate’ Onana’s move to Barcelona in the summer.
Sport add Barca don’t intend to pay more than €40m. This may not be enough considering recent claims have stated Everton want at least €60m to part ways with the player.
