Robert Fernandez can hardly get through an interview without being pressed on Gerard Deulofeu. Owned by Everton, but currently on loan at AC Milan, Barcelona have a €12m buyback clause.

Failing to impress Ronald Koeman, Deulofeu left Everton for Milan on loan and has done well. The 23 year old’s 2 goals and 3 assists in 1112 of Serie A football are impressive, but he hasn’t been quite the world beater he’s been hyped to be.

An excellent performance for Spain against France saw the Deulofeu hype explode, but little will be said about his performance on Sunday as Milan lost 2-1 at home to Empoli.

Around the same time as that match, Barcelona’s Fernandez was asked by RAC1, via Mundo Deportivo, about buying Deulofeu back from Everton. After saying it’s an interesting option, Fernandez added: “The player has an important say in terms of his Screen Shot 2017-04-25 at 10.36.37future.”

That has been pushed forward before, with it being pointed out Barca can activate the Everton clause… but can’t get Deulofeu if he says no. This could bring a fortunate situation for Everton who could earn a little extra than the €12m by selling Deulofeu direct to Milan, or elsewhere.
