Rangers left-back Rıdvan Yılmaz’s reported firm desire to leave Ibrox in the winter market has seen Philippe Clement’s side consider bringing in a replacement.
Latest claims have stated Rangers have set their sights on Fluminense defender Jefté, who is on loan at Apoel. Globo Esporte relay that and then provide their own take on this case.
Philippe Clement’s side have made contact with the Brazilian club and are negotiating a deal for the 20-year-old.
It’s further explained that the deal isn’t in place yet, but Rangers are ‘moving well towards a definitive agreement’. There shouldn’t be any issues with the negotiations, considering there’s been positive signals from Fluminense for the offer tabled by the Ibrox club.
The report adds the South American club and Philippe Clement’s side are now waiting for a response from the player and Apoel, to conclude the operation.
Globo points out the fullback was part of Fluminense’s ‘dream generation’, and this should add some optimism for Rangers and their supporters.
Jefté has been a regular for the Cyprus club this season, managing three goals and four assists from 20 appearances so far.
His arrival at Ibrox could see Rangers sanction Yılmaz’s transfer to Galatasaray.
