Aston Villa man’s future ‘under discussion’ at current club – Would cost €25m for them to cut ties

The Brazilian media today shares some news on the future of Aston Villa loanee Philippe Coutinho.

UOL comes up to point out that there’s a clause in his contract with Al-Duhail which says it would cost €25m to break his spell there and send him back to Villa Park.

Coutinho’s future at the Qatari club is said to be ‘under discussion’ ahead of a potential move in January.

There’s no information on who would be willing to sign the Aston Villa player right now, even though he’s been linked to Brazilian clubs, such as his former side Vasco da Gama.

Featuring for Al-Duhail this season, Coutinho has four goals and one assist in nine appearances, with some injuries stopping him from having a long string of games at the club.

He was loaned by Aston Villa last summer, and still has a contract with the Premier League side running until 2026.

This new information about the cost of breaking the loan should only push back the interested parties, unless there’s a general understanding that he should go elsewhere and all parties agree to forget about that clause.
