Following a fallout with Erik ten Hag, Jadon Sancho no longer features in Manchester United’s plans going forward.
The winger has been linked with a January move away from Old Trafford, and various options have been explored by the Red Devils to get it done.
Sport on Monday explain that one of the avenues probed by Manchester United was that of a swap with Raphinha at Barcelona.
The Brazilian, who was signed by the Catalans from Leeds United, has struggled once again this season, and two mistakes in two games against Girona and Valencia have hurt his team’s results in recent weeks.
His ‘clear desire’ is to stay at Barcelona going forward, but the La Liga side are of the mindset that ‘if there is an offer, they will listen to it’.
In short, Raphinha is not on the no transfer list, and should there be a ‘decent offer’ for the Brazil international, it would be considered.
Sport explain he has two options, with the first being the idea of a swap of some sort with Manchester United including Jadon Sancho.
They state this ‘was an option that appeared’, but everyone must wait and see if it will move forward ‘in the coming weeks’.
The other would be to sell him to Saudi Arabia, where those in charge of clubs are considering Raphinha and have ‘already been in touch’ with Barcelona about the transfer.
Knowing there is money to be made, the Spaniards have set a price of $100m, but the player’s main ambition is to stay put.
What is interesting is that Deco used to be Raphinha’s agent, but ‘no longer performs these functions’ since he took up a role at Barcelona.
However, since then, ‘no anger is known to have taken on the management’ of the player’s career, meaning the former Barcelona player ‘will have a lot to say in what happens’ in the Brazilian’s future.
We’ll have to wait and see whether that’s a good sign for Manchester United or not.
