Rot-Weiß Oberhausen midfielder Matona-Glody Ngyombo has insisted he knows nothing about interest from Reading, amid reports the League One side are watching him.
The 25-year-old has been speaking to Revier Sport in Germany about his current situation and what the future may hold as he stars for the Regionalliga West side.
The outlet explain that explain that the midfielder ‘is playing a decent season’ for the German club, who are currently ten points behind first place but with two games in hand to reduce that gap.
He’s the man in front of the defence and has been a regular this season, with 17 appearances in the league so far and 14 of those seeing him play all 90 minutes.
That, according to Revier Sport’s information, means he has ‘caught the eye’ of various scouts and ‘representatives’ from Reading have already taken notice of him.
Their interest only appears to be at that embryonic stage at this moment in time, with no suggestions they’ll be making a move or anything of that nature for now.
But it did lead the outlet to ask the player about the rumours around Reading, something Ngyombo was not particularly keen to comment on.
“I don’t like to comment on names,” he said.
“Football is fast-paced, and you never know what will happen. I haven’t thought about it yet because I have a valid contract in Oberhausen.
“Every footballer would like to play as successfully and as high as possible and that’s how it is for me too. I’m doing everything I can to achieve this – if it doesn’t work in Germany, then maybe in England.”
