Ajax have should consider a move to bring Kenny Tete back to the club from Fulham in the January transfer window.

That’s according to former striker turned analyst Ali Boussaboun, who has suggested the Fulham defender as a potential target for Ajax as they plan a rebuild.

Tete has been with Fulham since a €3.2m move from Lyon in September 2020, establishing himself as a key first-team player, particularly under Marco Silva.

However, he has found himself out of the first team this season because of injury, with just five appearances and 37% of the available minutes under his belt in the Premier League so far.

Fulham also appear to have replaced the Dutch defender with Timothy Castagne, who arrived from Leicester in a €13m deal in the summer transfer window.

That could potentially open the door to a move for Tete and Boussaboun thinks he should return to Ajax, a club where the defender spent 12 years of his career moving up from the youth set up into the first team.

He went on to make 55 appearances in the first team before leaving for Lyon in 2017 and Boussaboun thinks a reunion would work.

“Something really needs to be done at the back position,” he said.

“I don’t understand why they didn’t bring Tagliafico back earlier. Kenny Tete is also a good option. He is fast, strong and can play nice football.

“But I would rather go for a talent. That’s where Ajax stands. also known for. That’s the reason they’ve made hundreds of millions.”
