If there is one man that Denmark can seemingly always rely on, it’s Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg.
The midfielder might not be a key player in Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Spurs, but he very much is in Kasper Hjulmand’s, as shown by how often he was used by his national team manager over the course of their 2024 Euros qualifying campaign.
Spilxperten in Denmark look at the major players used throughout the process, grading them out of 12, and give the Tottenham man a 7.
They describe the former Bayern Munich and Southampton player as an ‘indispensable lung’ in the middle of the pitch for Denmark, and praise his passing accuracy, that was at least 90%.
Not only was he on form throughout, he was also key as he scored a ‘hugely important’ goal against Finland that helped them get three valuable points.
In fact, the Tottenham player can be safely described as one of the few who can boast to be ‘almost blameless’ during what was an ‘underwhelming’ qualifying campaign for the Danes.
Now, Højbjerg will have to see if he can convince his club manager to play him more amid many reports that teams in Spain and Italy are taking a look at him in hope of securing some sort of January deal for his services in the coming months.
