Celta Vigo defender Óscar Mingueza has insisted he’s yet to talk to West Ham United or anyone else about a transfer, despite reports of the Hammers being interested in him.
That’s according to Moi Celeste, who cover comments from the defender today on Galician Television regarding a possible transfer to England.
Reports yesterday in Spain, which were quickly picked up in England, linked West Ham with a move for the Celta full-back in the January transfer window.
That report claimed West Ham could be ready to launch an offensive for the 24-year-old and even pay as much as €20m for him, despite the fact he is currently rated at around €3m by the likes of Transfermarkt.
That figure would be one Celta would not think twice about accepting as it would not only be a massive profit on a player who arrived on a free from Barcelona last summer but also the third biggest sale in their history.
It seems, though, there is nothing in the pipeline as yet, at least according to Mingueza, who has very much played down the rumours.
“I have nothing planned nor has anyone contacted me,” he said.
“I am focused on Celta. West Ham are a great team, a very nice team but I am focused on Celta and the match against Valencia.”
