It’s now time for Tottenham Hotspur to be dragged into the Federico Chiesa saga.
With the player surrounded by rumours about his future at Juventus, CalcioMercato.it feature a fresh story claiming Spurs are one of the clubs interested in him.
Tottenham are said to be alongside the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United, all willing to take the winger from Italy.
Chiesa is currently in talks for a contract renewal at Juventus. His camp would like to see his yearly salary go from €5m to €7m, after tax.
The Bianconeri don’t want to get that far, planning an offer worth €6m with bonuses included, and that’s why it’s quite unclear whether they’ll get to a deal.
For all those who follow the transfer market, it’s well known how convenient it is for a player to be linked to powerful English clubs while negotiating a contract renewal.
So we better wait and see whether Tottenham’s interest is real or if it’s just being thrown around as an argument for Chiesa to get the salary he wants at Juventus.
