Sami Nasri’s problems continued last night after being singled following Sevilla’s defeat to Barcelona. The Frenchman joined Sevilla on loan from Manchester City for the season, but in recent weeks the forward has come under fire in the Spanish media.
Earlier in the season Nasri was one of Sevilla’s star players, but since the turn of the year the Manchester City loanee has found it tough.
Following last night’s loss to Barcelona Nasri was given a zero mark for his performance by Spanish newspaper AS. They highlight it was the display of Nasri which was a reason for Sevilla losing the game, along with the fatigue of his teammates.
Yesterday we covered reports from Spain which suggested Nasri has become a ‘symbol’ for Sevilla’s recent woes. The Spanish side were dumped out of the Champions League last month, and yesterdays defeat in the Camp Nou has resulted in the club losing touch with the top two.
However, Nasri’s loss of form can be put down to Sevilla playing him throughout the season when he hasn’t been 100% fit. The player arrived from Manchester City and quickly picked up a hamstring injury, but given his good form Sevilla continued to play him.
Subsequently this resulted in a lay off for the Manchester City player, but he was once again rushed back and Sevilla are now seeing the results of that. It’s a worry for Manchester City because if Nasri’s fitness had been handled better, it’s likely he wouldn’t now be falling apart.
