With reports in the English media this week claiming Chelsea are seriously interested in making an attempt for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen next year, the Italian press has also been covering the situation.
Even though the striker is highly rated by many European clubs and a move out of the Serie A side would be absolutely no surprise, there are people close to Napoli who believe his transfer is not such an urgent matter.
That’s the case of Antonio Petrazzuolo, who’s the director of Napoli Magazine. Speaking to Telelombardia, he had a chat about Chelsea’s interest in Osimhen and the chances the Blues have of a successful operation for the Nigerian centre-forward.
“De Laurentiis made it clear that we needed a ‘ducentino’ from the sheikh to take him away from Napoli. Osimhen is much courted in Europe, and he is not pressing to leave. The situation must obviously be monitored as there has been no renewal with Napoli so far.”
Chelsea’s hunt for a new centre-forward has been highlighted by the Italian media recently, with them also linked with their former striker Tammy Abraham.
The Blues are looking to permanently get rid of Romelu Lukaku next year, and the money from his sale could definitely help them sign a new goalscorer.
