French side Lens will be wearing a special kit for the Champions League clash against Arsenal this week.

As explained by RMC Sport, the ‘collector’s jersey’ is inspired by the club’s last Champions League participation, which happened in the 2002/03 season.

On Twitter X, Lens posted a video showing the kit, featuring several players who were in their squad from that time. That includes an honourable mention to Bouba Diop, who passed away in 2020.

That certainly only creates a bigger expectation for the match against Arsenal, which is the toughest confrontation the club will find in the group stage. The media around Lens are hugely looking forward to the game and it’s seen as a special night for fans… hence the new shirt.

In the Champions League’s first fixture, Lens had a 1-1 draw against Sevilla in Spain, showing they’re in the fight for qualification.

Arsenal, meanwhile, thrashed PSV 4-0 at the Emirates, and shall try to get their place in the knock-out stage as soon as possible.

The English and the French sides will be facing each other at the Stade Félix-Bollaert on Tuesday evening, and that’s a good chance for the Gunners to stay clear on top of Group B.
