In July, Barcelona announced they’d agreed a deal to sign Vitor Roque from Athletico Paranaense. When the 18-year-old actually arrives depends on a few factors, not least the Blaugrana’s ability to get his purchase through their accounts in a way which pleases La Liga.
Nevertheless, the Catalan media now see him as a Barcelona player in waiting, and therefore they’ll fight his corner.
Wednesday’s edition of Sport states it was a mistake for Brazil manager Diniz to leave the youngster out of his squad for the last international break, and instead include the likes of Richarlison and Wolves forward Matheus Cunha.
Cunha has played five matches for Wolves so far this season, scoring a goal against Crystal Palace. He didn’t score during the international break, but only got 19 minutes against Bolivia.
Sport state ‘everything indicates’ Vitor Roque will be in the next Brazil squad, and that could be at the expense of the Wolves player.
In their mission of talking others down to hype the Barca player, it’s stated Cunha went through the last call-up ‘without pain or glory’… in other words he had no impact.
