Today is an important day in Turkey, as it’s their deadline day, and while André Ayew is a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest, Fatih Karagumruk still tried to get him to sign before the end of the day.
We covered the interest from the Süper Lig side, as the player travelled to Istanbul to hold talks with the club, but it won’t be leading to him putting pen to paper on a contract.
This comes via Sébastien Denis, who originally broke the news of the interest in the former Nottingham Forest man.
He claims the Ghana International did not find an agreement with the Turkish side, suggesting he will continue to be a free agent a while longer.
Originally brought in on a six-month contract by Steve Cooper’s side in the January transfer window, Ayew made 13 appearances for Nottingham Forest last season, but failed to have any sort of important impact, such as goals or assists.
He wasn’t kept on by the Premier League following their escape from relegation, and we will now have to see where the Steve Cooper favourite ends up, having already worked twice with the English manager in the past.
A short update from Turkey, courtesy of Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, however, claims that the deal isn’t quite dead yet, and the parties are racing against the clock to find an agreement.
