Following the news that Paul Pogba is currently being investigated for potential doping, there is a belief that Juventus could simply move on from the Frenchman by terminating his contract if he is banned, meaning a replacement would be needed.
On Wednesday, the name popping up the most to do so is Arsenal’s Thomas Partey, who has been a long-term target for the Serie A side.
La Repubblica, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, explain that the Italians are ‘evaluating’ various avenues to go after amid the latest controversy surrounding them, including the Gunners man.
Calciomercato also include him in the list of likely targets for Juventus, as it’s pointed out the Ghana international is not ‘unsellable’ at Arsenal these days.
With a contract tying him to the London club until 2025, he wouldn’t be the most expensive either, although considering the Emirates residents paid €50m to get him from Atlético Madrid, they are likely to want to recoup as much as possible.
It’s a long shot for Juventus, especially midway through the season if Pogba is suspended for the foreseeable future, and it will be interesting to see how Arsenal respond if the Italian side do come forward and knock on their door in the next transfer window.
