Atletico Madrid have reportedly not given up on signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the striker is one of Diego Simeone’s favourite options for the summer, as the club will certainly need some reinforcements.
Sanchez is described as ‘aggressive’, and his experience in Europe’s most important leagues is something liked by the manager.
But things would obviously not be so easy for them. AS takes claims from the British press to say that Arsenal would demand £50m, which is considered too much for the Spanish side.
But a ‘market price’, which is mentioned as 40m (they don’t make it clear if in pounds or euros) is said to be more possible to be reached.
This sounds very much like it’s been decided the higher figures is out of Atletico’s grasp and so a new lower one has been thrown in to allow the story to continue.
There’s also a problem with salary. Atletico can’t match Sanchez currently earns at Arsenal, never-mind what he may earn on a new contract. Therefore, the player would be expected to take significantly less than he could get at Arsenal or elsewhere.
Alexis Sanchez to Atletico Madrid doesn’t look like it stands a chance.
