Last Thursday, journalist Javi Miguel stated Xavi Hernández has asked Barcelona to make a last-minute attempt to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Giovani Lo Celso. He also said Barca’s Clément Lenglet, who was on loan at Spurs last season, could be key to a potential operation.
The Argentina international has returned to the north London club after spending the past 18 months on loan at Villarreal. He’s now looking for a way out before the window closes on Friday.
That’s according to today’s Mundo Deportivo, who state he ‘wants to leave’ Tottenham after amounting only 16 minutes this season.
Ange Postecoglou’s side have informed Lo Celso’s agent that they aren’t willing to sanction another loan move and a permanent sale is the ‘only option’ to leave the north London club.
Mundo claim Tottenham now ‘get tough’ and this doesn’t help Barca as La Liga’s fair play limitations allow them to sign the South American only through a loan deal.
Barcelona would be able to buy Lo Celos if they were to make a ‘totally unexpected sale’ in the next few days.
