KAA Gent are more than willing to sell Gift Orban to Tottenham this summer and would even prefer to sell him than teammate Hugo Cuypers.
That’s according to Het Nieuwsblad, relayed by Voetbal 24, who back up reports that Gent would prefer to sell Orban this summer.
Reports throughout this week have indicated that Gent are open to selling Orban this summer, with Tottenham among his suitors.
It was reported on the 15th that a potential deal between the two clubs was currently progressing, and that was followed by a report two days ago explaining that Tottenham were keeping things with the player ticking over so they could make a quick move if necessary.
That report from De Morgen explained that Spurs’ chances had been given a boost as Gent would prefer to sell Orban than teammate Cuypers this summer.
HN now back that up, explaining that Tottenham are ‘particularly charmed’ by Orban, who Gent value at €30m.
The Belgian side’s board have already made an important decision when it comes to the striker, deciding they would prefer him to leave than Cuypers if they have to choose.
A departure for the latter ‘seems impossible’ unless there is a monstrous bid for him but that is not the case with Orban who they are ‘a lot more willing to say goodbye to’.
The door is wide open for Tottenham, then, who simply need to put the money on the table to get this deal done.
Whether they’re willing to do so, even after selling Kane to Bayern Munich, remains to be seen. It would be unlike Daniel Levy to simply pay what a club is asking for but perhaps the need to replace Kane and Gent’s willingness to sell can convince him to get this easy transfer over the line.
