It seems Watford could bring Islam Slimani back to English football.
The French media today reveals that the Hornets are one of the clubs who are keen on signing the former Leicester City and Newcastle United striker this summer.
Slimani’s contract with Anderlecht is expiring this week, and as reported by journalist Nabil Djellit, he has an offer to stay with the Belgian side.
It’s claimed that Slimani wants to ‘remain competitive’ to hold a place at the Algerian national team, as he wishes to play in the Africa Cup of Nations or even in the World Cup.
Djellit’s report doesn’t bring any details telling whether Watford are already in contact for Slimani, or if they stand a good chance of signing the striker this summer.
It was in January that the player left Stade Brestois in France to join Anderlecht in Belgium.
In these few months at his new club, he had nine goals and one assist in 16 games, and that’s why they want to keep him there with a longer contract.
