Earlier on Monday, we covered an article stating that Newcastle had made a first move for Adrien Rabiot, whose contract ends at the end of the month, but Manchester United are also in the mix.
That’s according to two different sources in Italy, as Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere Torino both report an interest from Erik ten Hag’s side in the Frenchman.
Their interest in Rabiot is nothing new, as they already tried to sign him last summer for around €20m, but with the prospect of a free transfer on the horizon, a new attempt appears to be in the works.
Gazzetta explain the France international has been offered a one-year renewal by Juventus, but has yet to sign it as he explores his options.
It’s added that a few clubs are keen, and with Manchester United needing a new midfielder this summer – one that ‘combines physicality, drive and goals – they are seen as the ‘loose cannon’ in Juventus’ attempts to sign Sergej Milinković-Savić.
Should the Red Devils ‘attack the Frenchman’, that would leave both them and Inter Milan (trying to sign Davide Frattesi) out of the race for the Serbian, leaving a free path for the Turin based club.
Over at Corriere Torino, they are a bit more certain of Manchester United’s desire to get Rabiot, as they claim there is a ‘forcing’ from the Premier League side, alongside other interested parties, to get the midfielder on a free.
Still, the offer of a renewal means Juventus are still ‘in the running’ to keep their player, all depending on what else lands on his table between now and the end of June.
