Despite the interest from Barcelona and Liverpool in Bruno Guimarães, Newcastle United apparently remain focused on keeping their star in the squad.

It’s Brazilian outlet UOL who today shares some more updates on the Magpies’ plan for the midfielder.

It’s claimed that even though Guimarães has a contract until 2026, Newcastle are already hard at work to extend his deal.

In order to convince him, the Magpies are reportedly willing to make him ‘one of the best paid players in the Premier League’, as they see him as the ‘pillar of next season’s project’.

With Newcastle qualified for the Champions League next season, it’s said they fit better into the Financial Fair Play, and that will help them with the offer they can put on the table.

UOL, however, claims nothing should be confirmed so soon. With the summer window about to open, it’s said the talks about Guimarães’ future should take place in the ‘coming weeks’.

This week, we had already seen Brazilian outlet Goal pointing out that the interest from Barcelona and Liverpool wouldn’t change Newcastle’s plans of renewing the player’s deal.
