Bayern Munich technical director Marco Neppe has ended up in Tottenham Hotspur’s sights, according to Kicker.
The Bundesliga side have seen their officials being scrutinised for their difficult season and the 36-year-old’s work is also being questioned.
It’s claimed the German is responsible for the Bavarian club’s transfers involving Sadio Mané, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui last summer. Only Matthijs de Ligt, who arrived from Ajax in 2022, has proved to be a success so far.
Kicker state these failed transfers ‘didn’t damage’ Neppe’s reputation at Tottenham. It’s claimed the director has aroused interest from the Premier League side, who are looking to appoint Fabio Paratici’s successor in north London.
Paratici stepped down from his position at Spurs last month. The north London club will not only have to appoint a new sporting director, but also a new coach after Antonio Conte was shown the exit door in March.
Even though Neppe has been identified as the one of the targets to replace Paratici, it’s still not clear how concrete Tottenham’s interest is.
If he were to end up at Spurs, Neppe’s first task would be to appoint Conte’s successor.
