With Tottenham Hotspur today officially announcing the departure of Lucas Moura, it seems the player felt at ease to speak about his future.
Soon after Spurs’ statement was made, ESPN Brasil released an interview the player had with journalist João Castelo-Branco about his situation this summer.
Moura is leaving Tottenham at the end of his contract, and that means he’s becoming a free agent with many offers to analyse in the coming months.
In this interview, the 30-year-old guarantees that he hasn’t picked his new club yet, and will take his time to analyse the possibilities that show up for him.
“Man, I have to take a lot of things into consideration. I would even like to open more for you, but unfortunately I can’t, because I don’t have anything set. I have no idea yet where I’m going to play, where my next home will be,” Lucas Moura told ESPN Brasil.
“At 30 years old and free on the market, it’s an opportunity to make a good contract, being very honest with you. See the city, structure, school for the children, quality of life, and analyse these things.”
“I have to say that Brazil is not in the plans for now. Because I’m still very young. I’m 30 years old, I have a lot of firewood to burn, I feel very good.”
Lucas Moura was signed by Tottenham in a €18.4m move from Paris Saint Germain in January 2018.
In his years at Spurs, he’s made 219 appearances, with 38 goals and 27 assists, and could still get those numbers up with the couple of games until the end of the season.
The Brazilian couldn’t win any titles with Spurs, and will certainly be most remembered for the hat-trick he scored against Ajax in the Champions League semifinals in 2019.
