FC Copenhagen are keeping a keen eye on Leicester City’s form under new manager Craig Shakespeare. The Danish club have a stake in Leicester’s survival and and are hoping for an upcoming financial boost.
Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet report that Copenhagen inserted clauses which saw them receive a bonus if Leicester qualified for the Champions League, but also if they avoided relegation.
Ekstra Bladet explain that should Leicester City retain their Premier League status, something which is looking likelier after the Liverpool victory, then FCK will receive around €250k to €300k.
For Leicester it’s not a great deal of money but it will be a welcome windfall in the Danish capital.
Since signing for Leicester City, 22 year old Amartey has enjoyed a prominent role under Claudio Ranieri. The midfielder didn’t start against Liverpool, and will be hoping Shakespeare isn’t going to reduce his minutes.
