This week, one of the biggest market rumours in Brazil has been regarding the future of Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos.
With the player not yet able to get a work permit in the Premier League, there have been several stories saying he could be loaned back to a club from his home country, and with all the talents he’s been showing, several sides would obviously be interested.
But Chelsea are actually not interested in loaning him out. That’s according to UOL journalist Rafael Reis.
His story claims that the Blues are actually confident that the midfielder will get a work permit, but in the event that he doesn’t, then they would rather have him at the club until the summer than sending him back to Brazil.
Chelsea reportedly believe the player would benefit more from a bigger time of adaptation ‘just training with new teammates’ instead of moving to a new club for six months.
Still, they are banking on the chance Andrey could be granted the working visa because of the U20 South American Championship, which he’s currently playing and ends at the weekend.
If that is granted, then Graham Potter would be able to use him at will for the first-team.
