Chelsea star Jorginho will soon enter the final six months of his contract and his future at the west London club beyond this season remains unclear.
The midfielder has been linked to Barcelona, Newcastle United and even a return to Napoli has been pushed forward in recent weeks.
Earlier on Thursday, La Repubblica reported Jorginho will leave Chelsea as a free agent next summer and his priority is to join the Naples club.
It was also stated the Catalan club and Eddie Howe’s side are also after the 31-year-old.
With claims explaining the Serie A side want to bring the Brazil-born Italy international back to the club, TuttoMercatoWeb contacted his agent, Joao Santos, for an update.
The representative has revealed his client’s first port of call is to continue with Graham Potter’s side.
“Jorginho’s contract expires on June 30, we have a renewal proposal and we give priority to Chelsea,” Santos said.
“Napoli represented our home in Italy, [Napoli sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli greatly appreciates the boy, for us it is a special club. If there was a new interest, we would be happy, but at the moment Napoli have not had contact with us.”
Santos confirming that Chelsea have offered a new deal to his client may not please his suitors, who are reportedly looking to sign Jorginho for free after this season, but for those hoping for the midfielder’s stay at Stamford Bridge, it’s certainly good news.
