São Paulo defender Luizão has completed his move to West Ham United, according to claims from Brazil.
Outlet UOL reports that the player signed today the definitive contract with the Hammers. That lasts for three and a half seasons, with an option to extend for two more years.
The story claims that Luizão is ‘soon’ flying to England to start his adaptation and begin training with his West Ham teammates.
UOL highlights that ‘many European clubs’ tried to sign Luizão in the past few months, with Benfica and Fulham included.
According to the report, West Ham’s ‘direct talks’ with São Paulo were the factor that gave them an advantage in the process, as it sounds like the two other clubs were trying to get him as a free agent by only contacting his entourage.
