Wolverhampton Wanderers have a deal in place with Atletico Madrid for striker Matheus Cunha to join them in the January transfer window.
That’s according to Cadena SER, who say the Brazilian will be making the move to Molineux next month.
They explain that the Spanish side need to make moves in January to fill a deficit in the accounts, particularly following their failure to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages.
Diego Simeone would also like to revitalise the side so there is a dual purpose to their efforts and a willingness to get players out of the door.
Cunha has been put at the top of the sale list and Cadena SER, via journalist Miguel Martin Talavera, have confirmed that Atletico ‘have an agreement with Wolves’.
The formula of that deal is not yet known but his agent has already informed Atletico that ‘he will leave’.
Wolves are in desperate need of reinforcements up front, with Raul Jimenez struggling for fitness, Sasa Kalajdzic a long-term injury absentee and Diego Costa’s temporary move not working out thus far.
It seems they have now found the new man to lead the line, with the impressive capture of Cunha seemingly in the pipeline.
