Napoli star Victor Osimhen is ‘back’, report Calciomercato, and Chelsea are being linked.
After a brief injury layoff due to a hamstring issue, the attacker has played three matches since his return and scored in all of them. That means he now has five goals and one assist in nine matches so far this season, and it’s insisted he’s determined to keep his record going.
Multiple clubs were credited with an interest in the summer window, with Calciomercato naming Manchester United and Newcastle United. Now it’s Chelsea who are being linked, but it’s made clear Graham Potter’s side will face a fight to sign Osimhen and would have to part with a great deal of money.
The report states: ‘The intentions of President De Laurentiis have not changed in recent months, despite the arrivals of Raspadori and Simeone: Osimhen is not on the market. Like all players in the squad, he has a price, that is at least 100 million euros.’
De Laurentiis has always been notoriously difficult to deal with and if he doesn’t want to sell a player then he’ll truly fight his corner. The Napoli chief is also known to overvalue his stars, and that would be another issue for Chelsea and other interested clubs.
A fee of €100m or more seems too much right now, and Osimhen will have to show a lot for the rest the season to make that look reasonable value.
