Friday’s edition of L’Equipe has a spread on Kylian Mbappe and all the drama around the PSG player at the moment.

He’s been surrounded by transfer rumours for much of the month, after claims emerged that he’s already regreting signing a fresh contract in Paris and would like to leave in the January window.

Liverpool have been the English club most linked with a move for the Frenchman, even if the finances of a deal would look difficult for Jurgen Klopp’s side to manage. In France, there’s been a repeat insistence that the Reds have been keen for a long time and continue to linger to wait for their chance to swoop.

L’Equipe have spoken to well known French agent Bruno Satin and got his view on what could happen and where Mbappe could go. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool get a mention.

Satin is quoted as saying: “There are only two or three clubs that can recruit him, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool. If we can rejoice that he chose to continue in L1, he took a step back in his career by staying. Today, what exit door does he have? Recruiting Mbappe with his huge salary will be risky for a club because it can create a stir in the locker room.”

When it comes to Real Madrid, Satin makes clear that Mbappe would have to change his attitude and drop any idea he’d be bigger than the club. For Manchester City, the issue is the presence of Erling Haaland and whether the PSG player could adapt to Pep Guardiola’s style.

There’s no talking down of Liverpool being an appropriate destination, yet the money issues obviously remain.
