Crystal Palace have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji following reports the general manager of the Belgian club wants to keep the player. Earlier today we reported Crystal Palace had a bid rejected by Anderlecht.
HLN have reported on the latest developments in Crystal Palace’s pursuit for the Senegal international after initial claims Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck would listen to offers. The Jupiler League side have denied this, and have stated Van Holsbeeck doesn’t want to sell the defender.
It also been revealed Anderlecht coach Rene Weiler also wants Mbodji to stay at the club despite the player demanding a move to the Premier League. It’s now expected the central defender will report for training in the morning.
Earlier today it was reported Crystal Palace had offered Anderlecht €12m for Mbodji, but the Belgian side are holding out for €15m. It seems Crystal Palace will miss out on the player in this window, but could still have hope og landing Mbodji in the summer following claims Anderlecht have promised him a move in the next window.
