Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Leeds Untied owner Massimo Cellino was again interested in buying Brescia after being linked with the Serie B a few months ago.
The Sardinian media have also reported Cellino could purchase the Italian club, and form a Leeds-Brescia axis.
L’Unione Sarda have today reported Cellino is looking to purchase a majority stake in Brescia despite still having 50% shares in Leeds United. Brescia has become a more financially attractive club over the past year as they’ve managed to clear their debt problem.
It’s unlikely Cellino would sell off his stake in Leeds United given the financial gains in English football, but he would still be interested in Brescia because of his love for Italian football and the club.
Cellino has always had a close relationship with the Lombardian club since his days with Cagliari, and he even toyed with the idea of playing home games at Brescia’s ground during the Stadio Is Arenas scandal
It’s also been suggested Leeds United and Brescia could form a partnership, which would see players from the Championship side sent out on loan to Italy.
It’s likely only Leeds United’s youngsters would be sent to Brescia in order to get first team experience, which would be similar to Chelsea’s partnership with Dutch Side Vitesse.
