Cody Gakpo has completely turned down the possibility of a move to Leeds United, with his sights set firmly on bigger clubs.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says he has ‘confirmed again’ that the Dutchman is not interested in the move to Elland Road.
Gakpo was a summer target for Leeds, who moved late in the window to try and secure his signature and appeared close to doing so at one point.
He ultimately decided against it, but Leeds had been working on a potential deal for the January transfer window since the end of the summer.
However, a report in England this week has made it clear that scenario won’t be happening, with Gakpo having rejected Leeds as he is eyeing a move to the likes of Real Madrid.
Plettenberg backs that up, stating that he has ‘confirmed again’ that the player ‘doesn’t want to join’ Leeds United and is waiting for bigger clubs to show an interest.
While a move in the January transfer window is still a possibility, the prospect of joining Leeds isn’t and it seems Jesse Marsch and co need to give this one up and look elsewhere.
