Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been linked with a move away from Lazio for several years, with Manchester United probably the Premier League club to have been linked the most.
Given the Red Devils’ need for midfielders in recent years, the links were easy ones to make but despite claims of potential huge offers, nothing happened and the Serbian remains at his Serie A club.
During the summer, PSG were also dragged into the equation, but they decided to go with other options. Journalist Giuseppe Bergomi has now looked at the situation and insists Milinkovic-Savic has to be careful when it comes to picking a destination, because whilst he may succeed at a club like Manchester City, somewhere like Manchester United would be different.
LazioNews24 quote him as saying: “But why don’t the top clubs come to take him, that’s what I’m wondering. Top club? He has to choose the right team for his qualities. If you send him to Manchester United it’s not good, if he goes to City he does like De Bruyne.”
Of course, it’s quite a claim to state any player would be able to replicate Kevin De Bruyne’s impact at Manchester City and there’s no suggestion Pep Guardiola’s side are even interested in the Lazio man.
Even Manchester United don’t appear to be in the picture right now, so Milinkovic-Savic will have to look at other options if he wants that big move to happen.
