On Monday we covered claims from Belgium on the future of Kara Mbodji. Leicester City were said to have made a €10.5m offer for the defender, their second after an initial offer of €8.8m had already been turned down.
Anderlecht turned Leicester’s second offer down too, and Belgian newspaper Het Belang van Limburg added that Southampton and Crystal Palace are also interested.
Sam Allardyce is keen to add what he can to his Crystal Palace squad today, and HBVL said Palace are very interested. Southampton aren’t quite as keen, with Claude Puel not being in a panic to add.
DH in Belgium say a move to the Premier League is a ‘dream’ for Mbodji, but Anderlecht are holding firm. The player has been away with Senegal on international duty, and there were rumours on Monday that he’d refuse to return if not granted his move.
That situation has now calmed down, and DH ponder if a ‘mad offer’ of €15m or more could change Anderlecht’s stance. That’s not so much for Leicester, Crystal Palace or Southampton, and a lot could depend on which other targets slip away this morning.
Mbodji may have to wait until the summer for his dream to come true.
