The middle man involved in taking Cheick Keita to Birmingham City has revealed the player we move to a bigger club in the future. Keita recently signed for Birmingham City from Virtus Entella.
Speaking to TMW Radio, Vasco Morelli was asked why Keita signed for Birmingham City despite the attention from other clubs.
Morelli said a move to a major club at this stage of his career may be the wrong thing to do, so joining the Championship side seemed the best option. The deal broker expects the youngster to be watched by clubs in Italy and England, so that one day he can go on to get his big move.
“Surely. We could go straight to an important club, but that would have been a too big a leap. Keita will have a profile in Italy and England and will be monitored over the years, this has been a step necessary to get to a big club in the future,” said Morelli.
Keita joined Birmingham City earlier in the transfer window on a three and half year deal for an undisclosed fee. The 20-year-old defender is still waiting to make his debut for his new club, but has made fourteen league appearances for Virtus Entella this season.
