Former Stuttgart midfielder Hans Muller believes Alexandru Maxim needs to start delivering for the German club.
Maxim has seen himself frozen out by Stuttgart coach Hannes Wolf this season, and consequently he’s recently been linked with a move to Leeds United.
Speaking to Bild, Muller was asked about the competition for places in the Stuttgart attack, with Maxim one of those fighting for a starting place.
The former West Germany international said Maxim needs to improve because he’s at the peak of his career. Muller thinks the Romania international needs to step up because he can’t be happy with a place on the bench.
“In attack the competition will be bigger. This means that even Alexandru Maxim must improve. I expect more of him, he is at the peak of his career, now he’s under the fifth or sixth coach, he’s mostly on the bench, this can’t be his aim.” said the Stuttgart legend.
Leeds United have held initial talks to sign Maxim. These talks with Leeds United were confirmed by the player’s agent, but he only expects his client to move in the summer, and Maxim will only join a club that suits him.
Stuttgart boss Wolf has also given Leeds United encouragement by confirming they would listen to offers for Maxim because he has several players that can play in his position.
Leeds United could face competition from Mexican side Club America after claims last week they are also interested in the 26-year-old.
