Fulham have reportedly placed a bid for São Paulo defender Luizão.
The offer is today by UOL journalist Bruno Andrade, who claims the numbers on the table are still being kept secret.
This is a peculiar situation because Luizão’s contract with São Paulo expires in January 2023, meaning Fulham could already agree a pre-deal with him and bring the player to London with no costs in the winter window.
The Craven Cottage side, however, are working to have him in the final days of the summer market, and even though the Tricolor are clearly under the risk of losing the player for free, they still don’t want to negotiate him, as they want to try and find an extension with him in the coming months.
So according to UOL, São Paulo have, at least ‘in principle’, not shown any interest in accepting Fulham’s bid.
The interest from Marco Silva’s side in Luizão had first been reported at the start of the month, in a story from Globo Esporte.
It was claimed they had the competition from Benfica and Porto, with all of them keen on signing him for free.
Now it seems Fulham tried to win the race by making an offer for a summer move.
