Earlier on Friday, Sport reported Erik ten Hag has requested Manchester United sign Memphis Depay.
Juventus were keen on signing the Barcelona player before they agreed to take Arkadiusz Milik.
Their decision to move away from him could open the door for Manchester United to bring the forward back to Old Trafford. Another report from Sport states the Red Devils have asked about the 28-year-old.
The Netherlands international is aware he’s out of Xavi Hernández’s plans and asked for his contract, which expires in 2023, to be terminated. This agreement is valid, but he will only go through with it if he is sure about joining a top-level club.
Manchester United could be an option. The report states the player has ‘received a call’ from the Red Devils and is ‘waiting for an offer to be formalised’ from them.
Depay has received offers from mid-table Premier League sides, but he doesn’t want to join them. He will instead wait to see what happens with Manchester United.
In the event the possibility to re-join United vanishes, then the ex-Lyon man could stay at the Camp Nou. Depay believes he could have options to play if Barcelona manage to get rid of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the window closes.
