Onyekuru

Currently struggling with a lack of wingers, Liverpool’s decision to loan Lazar Markovic to Hull after his failed spell at Sporting CP has left a few fans baffled.

However, if Belgium’s RTBF are to be believed, the decision to let the Serbian international go could be due to the fact that Liverpool have their eye on someone else.

The Belgian media outlet report on Thursday Jürgen Klopp’s side are rather keen on KAS Eupen’s exciting young winger Henry Onyekuru.

The 19-year-old has scored 10 goals and picked up six assists in 22 league games this season for the Jupiler Pro League side, and has attracted interest from the United Kingdom.

Dreaming of one day playing for Arsenal, Onyekuru has been on the end of a €1.5m bid from Celtic, yet with Eupen’s demands standing at around €4m, that offer has reportedly been rejected.

RTBF are adamant Liverpool have ‘plumped’ for the young forward, and while no offer has been made by Jürgen Klopp just yet, the fact they play in the Premier League could tip the balance in their favour.

Furthermore, in light of all this attention and the way Eupen have dealt with the offers for his services, the player is said to have gone missing, and isn’t expected to play in Thursday night’s game against Standard Liège.

Onyekuru’s dreams of playing for Arsenal might have to be put on hold for now if Liverpool come knocking, even if you would think a move to Celtic would probably guarantee him more time on the pitch at this point in his career.
