Unable to afford the transfer of Jesé from Paris Saint-Germain, the main focus of Las Palmas’ transfer window has been West Ham’s Jonathan Calleri.
Unfortunately, various obstacles were preventing a possible deal, including the uncertainty surrounding the future of their striker, former Barcelona man Sergio Araujo.
The 24-year-old needed to leave Las Palmas before another player could come in, and that appears to be happening, paving the way for the arrival of the West Ham forward.
According to Canarias7, the striker has now agreed a deal with AEK Athens in Greece, despite having reservations about the level of football in the Greek Superleague.
The player confirmed the move when he told the club’s radio station, relayed by Marca, the move was ‘what’s best for him’ at this moment in time, and that he hoped it would allow him to return to his previous level.
Canarias7, in their article, state the player’s exit was ‘indispensable’ for the arrival of players like Jonathan Calleri, meaning that with Araujo out of the way, few things now stand in the West Ham player’s exit from the London Stadium.
