Liverpool are reportedly preparing a bid for Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes.
The attempt is today reported by Correio da Manhã, who claims the 23-year-old could be a replacement for Thiago Alcântara, who got injured at the weekend.
It’s said that with the ‘excellent’ performance from Nunes against Braga, Liverpool returned to chasing him, and have him on top of their wish list.
It’s been months since the Portuguese media started claiming that the price for the midfielder is of €45m plus €5m in bonuses, an amount for which Wolverhampton Wanderers already had an agreement with Sporting.
Even though Nunes rejected Wolves for not being a Champions League club, that could be a different story with Liverpool, who are yet to speak to him about the move.
Correio da Manhã highlights the fact that the player has been learning English and practising it with his teammate Marcus Edwards.
They also claim that Wolves haven’t given up on the player, even though Liverpool are now called ‘heavy competition’ for the Molineux side.
