Birmingham City’s hopes of signing Robin Quaison look to be increasingly shrinking. Last week the Italian media reported that Birmingham had made an offer to the player, hoping to sign him on a free transfer when his Palermo contract expires in June.
Quaison had other ideas, believing the longer he left it, the more lucrative the offers would be for him, and that perhaps he’d get interest from bigger clubs. That happened quickly with AS Roma approaching the player, and German club Hoffenheim are also said to be interested.
If that wasn’t difficult enough for Birmingham City to compete with, TMW report that Sampdoria have also contacted the player’s entourage. Not only do Sampdoria have the advantage of playing in Serie A but Quaison would also get to live in the Liguria region and there’s quite a pull there.
Birmingham are currently 12th in the Championship and Gianfranco Zola may need a more convicning promotion push to attract the 23 year old attacking midfielder.
