Having signed Morgan Sanson from Montpellier and desperately trying to bring back Dimitri Payet from West Ham, Marseille are yet to address their most urgent necessity: a left-back.
For the past few months now, one man in particular would rejoice their manager Rudi Garcia, yet Aston Villa aren’t too keen on selling Jordan Amavi, especially midway through the season.
Marseille were reported to have made the player an offer, which was later reported as having been rejected because the player ‘wants to complete an entire season in England’.
Whether that has put Marseille off entirely remains to be seen, but Garcia was very reserved when asked about the Aston Villa left-back’s chances of leaving Steve Bruce and Villa Park to return to France.
He said, relayed by FootMercato: “Amavi? I’m not confident about bringing anyone in, only the players I have at my disposal. We’ll see what the group looks like on the 31st.”
Not exactly something to fill Marseille fans with optimism, yet it seems that Aston Villa will be keeping hold of Amavi until the end of the season at least.
