UD Ibiza have ‘formally requested’ to sign Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz on loan again next season.
That’s according to Periodico de Ibiza and Diario de Ibiza, who both cover the Spanish side’s efforts today.
Bogusz spent last season on loan with Ibiza and was proving to be a success until a cruciate ligament rupture in January brought a premature end to his time with the Spanish club.
He had, therefore, been due to return to Leeds this summer, but it seems Ibiza are keen on keeping him with them.
Periodico report they have ‘formally requested’ that the loan deal be extended into a second year, while Diario say the same, albeit that they’ve just ‘requested’ a deal.
Both explain that the desire for an extension to the player’s move from Leeds was confirmed by Ibiza chief Miguel Ángel Gómez during the presentation of Brazilian goalkeeper Daniel Fuzato.
Diario go into a little more detail than their counterparts, explaining Gómez made it clear that president Amadeo Salvo is ‘in charge of the negotiations’ and has already presented a proposal to Leeds in writing.
They also carry comments from Gómez about the potential deal, with him making it clear his club’s intentions.
“All his teammates want him to continue,” Periodico report him saying.
“The president wants him to continue, and the sporting director also wants him to continue, but it is a situation that has to be resolved with Leeds and the player himself. We have already presented, through the president, the request for him to return with us.”
“He is currently a Leeds player; he will fight to stay in the first team, and from there, if they consider that the player has to go out on loan, we have already submitted through the president the request for him to stay with us,” add Diario.
