As you might have seen, what appeared to be an easy transfer for Napoli has turned into a bit of a mess, as Leo Østigard waits to leave Brighton & Hove Albion.
Loaned to Genoa for the second half of last season, the Norwegian defender caught the eye during his time there, which led to bigger clubs, like the Naples residents, to come knocking.
With no plans to use him, Graham Potter gave the green light for the transfer, but there have been a few hiccups along the way.
Corriere dello Sport provide an update, explaining that Napoli chose the Brighton defender ‘to replace Tuanzebe’, while the player wants to play the Champions League with the Serie A side.
Sorting out personal terms was easy, but the negotiations with the Seagulls haven’t been as swift.
As explained on Thursday, the player wants the transfer completed before the start of preseason, but ‘he will have to wait a little longer’, as Torino have also come knocking.
That being said, the new club’s interference ‘should be a vain attempt’, as the Brighton man simply ‘wants Napoli’, which he reiterated to his agent.
It’s now up to the Seagulls and Luciano Spalletti’s side to come to an agreement.
