Wanting to improve their defence, Southampton appeared to have targeted Juventus’ Koni de Winter as a potential option.
The young centre-back was already a player the Saints were looking at last year, and because he was never going to start under Max Allegri, a temporary move away was being touted.
However, it appears that Sampdoria have taken an advantage on the competition to date, as TuttoJuve reveal the player seems ‘destined to remain in Serie A’.
In fact, going to the Genoa based team on loan is the ‘most probable’ option for the Southampton target.
The outlet state ‘there will be contact in the next few days between Juventus and the footballer’s agent’ to discuss his future.
They then point out the likes of Ajax Amsterdam, Empoli, Monza, Sassuolo, Club Brugge and Southampton had all taken an interest in the 20-year-old Belgian.
This all means that if Ralph Hasenhüttl really wants De Winter, he is going to have to act quickly.
